Adult Education

The adult education committee works with the pastor to research possible programs of Bible study for the adult members of the congregation.Adult education meets for forums, book studies, and Bible studies at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays.

WELCA

Three women’s groups meet monthly to delve into the Bible and enjoy a cup of coffee.  Other groups meet periodically to study a book or topic of interest. Previously studied books include The Shack and 40 Days with the Lord’s Prayer, a Book of Faith study. Meeting times vary and can be found on the monthly calendar. All are invited to join in the studies.  It’s a great way to get acquainted.  No previous knowledge is required.

Promise Keepers

Who are they and why do they meet at 6 a.m. on Wednesday mornings?

Promise Keepers is a group of men that have decided it is important for their faith to meet weekly for a short Bible study and discussion of how that relates to our daily faith.

They meet for about an hour and then go to their places of work.  Some that have the time may go uptown for breakfast.  There are no requirements for attendance but they find the more often they attend the more they gain.  You are welcome to join them on Wednesday mornings.

Senior Saints

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has a monthly gathering of senior members fifty-five and older.  Any senior is welcome to attend. This group of  men and women, averaging around thirty-six people each month, are known as the ‘Senior Saints’.

It meets on the third Wednesday of every month at Broadway Apartments beginning at 11:00 a.m. We begin with a program of hymns, message, and the Word centered around a theme of the month. Then, thanks to members of the monthly Service Group, a meal is provided, usually consisting of hot dishes, salads, desserts, rolls, and coffee. At times, we might have a potluck, picnic, or a soup and salad meal instead.  Fellowship is a big part of this event as people gather early and enjoy being together.

The Fellowship Ministry Team of Good Shepherd oversees ‘Senior Saints’ providing an opportunity for Christian fellowship among anyone from Broadway Apartments, all seniors from Good Shepherd, as well as others that wish to attend.
